Delete your account & data

This page explains how to permanently delete your Tape2Type account and the data associated with it.

How to request deletion

Email hello@tape2type.com from the email address on your account, with the subject “Delete my account”. That's the only step — you don't need to be logged in. We verify the request against the account email and action it, then confirm by reply.

1. Send an email to hello@tape2type.com from your account email address.
2. Use the subject Delete my account (or mention it in the body).
3. We confirm and complete the deletion, then email you to confirm.

Requests are actioned within 30 days, usually much sooner.

What gets deleted

• Your account and login (email address and hashed password).
• Your saved transcripts and any insights generated from them.
• Your remaining credit balance (unused credits are forfeited on deletion).

Uploaded audio and video files are already deleted on a short schedule after each transcript is produced, as described in our Privacy Policy — they are not stored long-term either way.

What we're required to keep, and for how long

We retain a minimal record of completed payments and invoices (for example, the amount, date and last four digits of the card — never full card numbers) where we're legally required to for tax and accounting. Under UK law this is typically 6 years. These records are kept only for that legal obligation and are not used for any other purpose. Everything else tied to your account is removed.
